Volunteering Service > I want to Volunteer

What do I get out of it?

Volunteering benefits many people, government and non-government organisations, groups, communities and the individuals and families that volunteers support, communities would not function without the wonderful support from volunteers. There are many reasons why people volunteer their time and there a many benefits that volunteers receive, here are a few that volunteers have mentioned;

  • enhances skills and learning new skills
  • builds self-esteem and confidence
  • reduces social isolation
  • increases opportunities to meet new people
  • enjoy supporting people in the community
  • provides a stepping stone into the workforce
  • volunteering looks good on my resume
  • Helps keep physically and mentally active
  • Most of all having Fun!!

Home & Community Care Organisations (HACC) Benefit:

Volunteers’ working in Home & Community Care funded programs provides a meaningful service in supporting elderly people and/or people with a disability. There is a high number of volunteers who work in HACC funded programs, assisting in the care and meeting the needs of consumers.  HACC organsiations are able to function at a high level due to their wonderful volunteers, as without the network of volunteers, services to the aged care and young disability sector would be reduced, and some services would be redundant.

Volunteers are recognised and validated for their tremendous support to the HACC funded services and their contribution towards building better communities for individual, families & friends.
