How Can I Volunteer?
Volunteering is a thought that most people rest on for some time before making a decision. Volunteering is not a decision that you make out of a day’s boredom, it’s a lifestyle choice you consciously make when you would like a change in your routine. While we all know that volunteering is a great way to meet people, reduce loneliness, isolation and very self rewarding, you must still explore if volunteering is for you.
Ask yourself the following questions when thinking about volunteering:
- Why do I want to volunteer?
- What days do I have free to volunteer?
- How much time a week, fortnight or month can I give to volunteering?
- How can volunteering fit in with my commitments?
- Can I commit to regularly volunteering my time?
Once you have answered these questions you will have a greater idea if volunteering is the avenue you wish to take. If the answer is yes, the next step is to explore what you would like to do and what locality you would like to volunteer in.
